I have some problems when my implants were put in.I was very unhappy with the end results. I had one breast that did not even look like a breast and they were about 2 inches apart and one was way over to the side and ALOT lowere than the other one. I did get a second opinion and had them fixed a few weeks ago. I am very very pleased. I just wish the work would have been done right the first time. take care. It seems like it took me forever to get my implant. I love the silicone for me. But anything was better than the expander. As for the nipple and areola--I am glad I did it--it was quite minor compared to everything--and it seems like it just completed the whole process and all--but I am not sure it is needed. HOWEVER, I would say do it as I don't think you will regret doing it, but might regret not doing it.

We've been busy with school. Prom was last night and after 23 years of them for me, I was pretty bored. Seemed liked Andrew was too. I will have to see how long mine took--it seemed like at least a month, and I certainly didn't have a drain still in! Stephanie's was fast too so I seem to have been the exception. Good for you. It may be a bit painful, but maybe the faster process will be better? Remember, when you start the feel the muscles tighten ever slow slightly, tell the PS to STOP with the cc's. That was the only way to avoid later pain for me. Twice I had to have him take some out as I knew I would be miserable later.

The expander is going to get rock hard as you go along. At least mine did. I would make people feel it at work and they would look at me in HORROR that that Thing was in me. You get used to it I guess. But then when you get the implant it is like heaven!

Sounds like you are doing great! It really helped me and decreased how often I needed to take pain pills. Plus, I could sleep much better at night. Thought maybe you could consider this. Hope things are better soon! I had and still have my share of those panic attacks. That is the worst part. But you are cancer free and now can think about healing.

When you do meet with Dr. Nate, ask for a copy of the pathology report. Most doctors will give it to you without asking. But ask him to go over EVERYTHING with you. Mine didn't, and when I got home I saw something about squamous cells and thought I had some other cancer. It was me trying to be a doctor-not knowing that sqaumous cells don't mean cancer! I'm curious if they will give you a Stage, a grade, or if they will mention if you had perineural invasion. I ask this because I was never given a grade of tumor and no one ever mentioned nerve invasion. (I like to think that means I didn't have it)

But, take this report in stride too. I am the type of person that wants to know everything, because if I don't, I make it up anyway. But maybe you don't want to know? Jsut something to think about.

I don't mean to blow your mind with too many details but I don't want you making the mistakes I made. I am so pleased for you though--they got all the cancer!!! : )

HAPPY DAY!Molly Brawleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00115154349404776433noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4943006232049256938.post-78796591492247683712009-02-08T19:53:00.000-05:002009-02-08T19:53:00.000-05:00I am so so sorry. I never had one but I have read that they will give them. I really sounds like muscle spasms to me. And those are the absolute worst. I did get them in my back too...but was able to move positions to stop the spasm.

AGain, this sounds way worse than it should be so there has to be something BETTER out there. Don't give up yet, but definitely call.

MollyMolly Brawleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00115154349404776433noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4943006232049256938.post-91672078497389817222009-02-08T12:31:00.000-05:002009-02-08T12:31:00.000-05:00Oh, darling, I so remember. I wish I could really...Oh, darling, I so remember. I wish I could really, really convince you that it will get better, and it will, but it is going to take time. I read over my post-mastectomy days and I too wanted at times to rip out the expander. Do you know if it had any saline it it? Don't let them expand it until the pain is gone.

I couldn't take percocet or vicoden--both made me itch like crazy and the headaches too. Tylenol 3's were the worst for headaches for me. I would ask about a muscle relaxer (remember, that expander is under the muscle) And maybe some type of ibuprofen.

Did they do any reconstruction on the left side? How is that feeling? Again, it is that pesky expander that causes most of the pain.

Hang in there. Just think that you are cancer free and on your way to perky boobs.

MollyMolly Brawleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00115154349404776433noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4943006232049256938.post-57799452952665812312009-02-06T22:00:00.000-05:002009-02-06T22:00:00.000-05:00Ah yes, the days of drugs. Fat, skin and the expander sticking out.

It all looks pretty normal now.

Stay the course with the drugs--try to "enjoy" being home and pampered if you can.

EAT all you want too! You will have clean margins this time, I just know it!!!!

Yes, the expander is the problem but it will get better. I remember writing about not being able to get up from a horizontal position for about a week without dear hubby hoisting me up. It will take some time my dear. I walked one mile a week after surgery and about killed myself but was able to do it. TAKE IT EASY and take all the drugs you need.

How is the drain business? Not fun, but doable. Did they put any saline in the expander? Mine as empty because my surgeon was really agressive and I was torn up, but some people get ahead start with some additional fluid to start the process earlier. That will make your pain worse though, but it will get easier. We will talk about that later but for now, REST REST REST!

Thought about you all day today!!!

Love,

MollyMolly Brawleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00115154349404776433noreply@blogger.com
